meds2GROW in action:

Is there an annual fee or ongoing costs?   The purchase price is a one-time cost with no annual fees.

Are there updates to software?  As the iPad operating system (iOS) software has updates, customers are contacted with confirmation that the iOS update has no impact on the meds2GROW system making it safe to update the iPad mini. As far as updates to the meds2GROW system itself: if there were to be a new version, it would be the similar to new editions of a textbook-- individuals wishing to upgrade to a new edition/version could choose to purchase that new edition/version.

Any warranties that can be purchased, if so, cost?  The iPads come with the standard Apple limited warranty included with iPads-- see for the specific details.

Is this system compatible with other medications we already have?  One nice feature of the barcode key tags portion of the system is that they can be used alone or attached to actual pills/vials/syringes etc.  So, if your learning objectives include cutting pills in half, for example, the tag can be used along with an actual physical tablet (supplied by the customer) that needs to be cut in half to meet that objective.  The same applies to attaching the tag to a vial of sterile water to practice drawing up insulin for example.

Can you add medications to the formulary? If so, is there a limit to how many meds can be added?  There are roughly 100 of the most commonly prescribed medications in the formulary, but, if by chance, there is a specific medication that must be included to meet your learning objectives for a particular simulation, we have included several "blank tags" that can be labeled to make it whatever meets your needs.  Those blank tags can be reused as other meds as your program moves forward.  The formulary medications were specifically selected to represent a wide range of medication classifications looking less at regional preferences toward specific medications.  The overarching goal of meds2GROW is for students to have a safe environment in which to repeatedly practice and develop the muscle memory and critical thinking associated in administering medications appropriately and safely and to become comfortable in identifying when to assess and document additional parameters in the medication administration process. This can be used both in practice lab as well as in conjunction with simulation scenarios.

This sounds great, but can I see it in person? Absolutely!  We completely understand the need to "look under the hood” before a major program decision to be comfortable with your product selection. Our recommendation for your next step would be to schedule a time that we could send you a demo unit to test the system yourself.  Perhaps you have a time during a faculty meeting that everyone can work with the system in person to see how truly simple it is to use.  We have been loaning a sample demo system to schools of nursing for one week which allows the simulation stakeholders time to look at the system without “sales pressure.”  While you have the system at your site, we schedule a brief webinar for you to ask any questions that you may still have regarding function or processes. Contact us to get on the schedule!
